WHAT STARTED OFF as a light comedy that followed an entitled and privileged white woman feeling sorry for herself in Litchfield penitentiary has slowly become much more than that.
For anyone who caught the last season, which was arguably the best to date, Orange Is The New Black has taught many people about the huge problems that will always come about from privatizing prisons (or any institutions, for that matter).
The show has raised a lot of awareness about issues such as racism and sexism within women’s prisons in America. After the release of a new trailer, this season looks like it will continue to highlight social issues and the importance of solidarity.

When every single thing went wrong last season, some how it looks like the women have managed to turn things around. The inmates of Litchfield are this time looking to improve their living conditions after the extremely tragic ending that the previous series closed on.
The entire new series takes place in real time over the course of three days. Does this mean no more flashbacks of the characters lives before prison?
Season 5 of Orange Is The New Black will be released in just one month on the 9th of June.
